Zikr and Its Importance in the Light of Sufi Thought

Abstract

Remembrance of Allah (Zikr-e-Allah) is source of restness and satisfaction of heart and soul of an individual. The Sufis consider Zikr-e-Allah very important for the self-purification and improvement of the society. Because due to this, the man becomes soft in his character and moves to do goodness. Due to this reason all Sufis of different orders of Tasawwuf made it a vital a part in their spiritual life in different times and ways. The basic objective for performing the Zikr-e-Ilahi for all Sufis is to obey and please the Allah Almighty. Due to owing of this goal they always advise their followers and disciples for adoption and absorption themselves in Zikr-e-Allah. In short this research deals with the Zikr and its importance in the light of Sufi thought.
