Meanings of Tasawwuf: in the Light of Baba Fareed’s Teachings

Abstract

Hazrat Baba Farid-ud-Din Masood (may Allah have mercy on him) is one of the great Sufis who spread the light of Islam in the Indo-Pak Subcontinent. The focus of this article is to explore the significance of the love of God, remembrance of God, fear of God, trust in God, repentance, recitation of the Holy Quran, thought of the hereafter and service to the people in his teachings, and to see whether his teachings contradict Shariah. The purpose of the analysis of Hazrat Baba Farid-ud-Din Masood's (may Allah have mercy on him) teachings is to understand how far they synchronize with the Holy Quran and the sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
