Abstract

This article covers the impact of Sufism on Andalusian poetry in the era of Banî al-Ahmâr. It presents the examples of poetry of Ghazâl and Madâh. In the beginning, it explains the intimate relationship between poetry and Sufism. Poetry contributed to spreading the teachings of Sufism, and Sufi inspiration triumphed over lyrical inspiration. With the power of Sufism that suggests sublime happiness and expresses the tension and pain of the human soul, and the deception of the world of sensations and the body that veils us from the divine greatness and prosperity. We can call this era in the field of this type of poetry the “golden age,” as it abundantly use Sufi terms of different conditions and stations that the Sufi goes through, such as affliction and loss, collection and separation, fear and hope, and annihilation and simplicity and affliction. The descriptive analytical approach’s followed here to explain the poetic models of Sufi teachings.
