Tafseer Al-Ishari in Morocco: A Sample Analysis of Ibn-e-Ajiba’s Al-Bahr Al-Madeed

Abstract

This research article deals with the role of Morocco’s scholars in the field of Tafseer e Ishari or spiritual interpretations of the verses of Quraan e Kareem according to the conditions described by the scholars of Islam. Specific research study has done for Al-Bahr Al-Madeed a well known Tafseer by Shaikh Ibn e Ajiba (1747- 1809AD)

A leading scholar of Morocco in 18th century. This study reveals the methodology adopted by Ibn e Ajiba in tafseer and conclude that his interpretations of the quranic verses were in accordance with the standards set by the early scholars of Islam.
